Web design, apps and software for businesses in Oman

SmartTech is a digital studio based in Abu Dhabi that builds websites, apps, software and marketing for businesses across Oman — from Muscat to Sohar and Salalah. We are not a local agency with an office on Sultan Qaboos Street, and we will not pretend to be one. What we offer instead is a studio built around Arabic: every site is designed and written in Arabic and English from the first screen, not translated at the end.

That matters more in Oman than almost anywhere else in the Gulf. Arabic carries most of the everyday business conversation here, so the Arabic version of your site is usually the one that sells — and it deserves to be written by people who write Arabic for a living.

What we do in Oman

The Omani market, in practice

Omani buyers increasingly start with a search: a supplier in Muscat, a clinic in Sohar, a contractor in Salalah. Vision 2040 has pushed government services online, and customers now expect the same from private businesses — a fast site on a phone, prices or at least a clear starting point, and a WhatsApp button that someone actually answers.

Most Omani business sites still fall short in the same places: an Arabic version machine-translated from English, layouts that break when the page turns right-to-left, no Omani details (OMR prices, +968 numbers, real addresses), and nothing for Google to rank beyond a home page. Those are exactly the things we fix first. If you want to judge any provider, us included, start with how to choose a web design company in Oman.

The working rhythm is easy to share: Oman and the UAE are in the same time zone and keep the same Sunday–Thursday week, so a project with us runs on your hours, not on a time difference.

From Muscat to Salalah

Muscat

The capital, and where competition for search is fiercest — professional services, clinics, real estate and retail around Al Khuwair, Qurum and Seeb. Here a site has to be fast, properly bilingual and backed by a Google Business Profile to stand out. For a Muscat business we usually deliver a company site in three to four weeks and an online store with Thawani or bank-gateway payments in six to ten, with the domain, hosting and code in your name.

Sohar

An industrial and logistics city built around the port and free zone. Buyers here are often companies, not consumers, and frequently international — so the English version carries as much weight as the Arabic, and catalogues, certifications and enquiry forms matter more than flashy design.

Salalah

Tourism peaks with the khareef season, and so do searches — from Omani families, Gulf visitors and international travellers in several languages. Hotels, tour operators and restaurants here need sites that load on a slow connection and take bookings or WhatsApp enquiries without friction.

Nizwa and the interior

Heritage tourism, family businesses and education. Arabic leads almost entirely here, which is exactly where a studio that writes Arabic first has the advantage over one that translates.

Who we build for in Oman

Retail and e-commerce

Online stores that price in rials to three decimals, take cards through a bank gateway or a local provider such as Thawani, accept OmanNet debit cards, and ask for delivery addresses the way Omanis actually give them — building and way number plus a map pin.

Clinics and healthcare

Bilingual sites and booking apps for clinics and medical centres: doctors, specialties and appointment slots, reminders on WhatsApp, and patient data handled with the Personal Data Protection Law (Royal Decree 6/2022) in mind from the first design.

Logistics, industry and trading

For Sohar, Duqm and Muscat suppliers: product catalogues, quote requests, and internal systems — inventory, orders, CRM — that handle OMR and AED side by side when a business trades across the border.

Tourism and hospitality

Hotels, camps and tour operators in Salalah, Nizwa and the Musandam coast: multilingual pages for each audience, booking or enquiry flows that work on mobile data, and the local SEO that puts them in front of visitors planning the trip.

The Omani details we get right

  • Prices in OMR with three decimal places (1.250 OMR, not 1.25), on the site, in the checkout and on invoices.
  • Omani phone numbers in +968 format and click-to-WhatsApp on every page.
  • Addresses by building and way number, with a map pin — not a Western street-address form.
  • Payments through your bank’s gateway or Thawani, with OmanNet debit cards accepted.
  • Personal data handled under Oman’s Personal Data Protection Law (Royal Decree 6/2022).
  • Arabic and English URLs, titles and content that each rank on their own, as set out in our guide to SEO in Oman.

Why SmartTech in Oman?

Smart World began as a translation house, so language is the part of the job we take most seriously. For an Omani business that means Arabic that reads as if it were written in Muscat, English that reads as if it were written in London, and one team that builds both — with the engineering to make them fast, findable and easy to run.

FAQ

Do you have an office in Oman?

No. We are based in Abu Dhabi and serve Omani clients remotely — video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards — in the same time zone and working week. You can reach our Oman line on +968 9242 2546 (calls and WhatsApp) or +968 7413 4993 (calls).

Can you show prices on my site in Omani rials?

Yes. Your site, checkout and invoices can price in OMR with three decimal places, or in OMR and AED side by side if you sell in both countries. Our own fees to you are quoted in AED.

Which payment gateways can an Omani online store use?

Usually the gateway provided by your bank, or a local provider such as Thawani, with OmanNet debit cards accepted alongside Visa and Mastercard. The right one depends on your bank and the fees, so we settle it before the build starts.

How long does a website take?

Three to four weeks for a standard bilingual business site, counted from the day we have your logo and content. Online stores and catalogue-heavy sites take longer; we give you a dated plan at the start.

Do you build mobile apps for businesses in Muscat?

Yes. We build cross-platform apps for iOS and Android from one codebase, from AED 10,000, usually in two to three months. For Oman that means payments through Thawani or your bank’s gateway with OmanNet cards, prices in OMR with three decimals, +968 sign-up, and customer data handled under the Personal Data Protection Law (Royal Decree 6/2022). The App Store and Google Play accounts are opened in your company’s name, and the source code is yours. What an app costs, and why the Oman version does not cost more, is in our app cost guide.

Will the Arabic be written or translated?

Written. Arabic and English are each written by native writers for their own readers, and in Oman we usually write the Arabic first. It is the part of the work our translation-house background makes us strictest about.

How do I choose a web design company in Muscat?

Open their live sites on your phone in Arabic and English, not screenshots. Make sure the contract puts the domain, hosting and source code in your name. Check that the Arabic is built right-to-left, not bolted on. Ask for a written fixed price and a written post-launch support arrangement. The full checklist is in our guide to business website design in Oman.

Is SEO included in the website?

The technical foundations are included in every site: separate Arabic and English pages, titles and descriptions, a sitemap, structured data and a fast build. Ranking for competitive Muscat searches takes ongoing work, which is our monthly SEO service from AED 2,000.

Can my website be hosted in Oman?

Yes. We can host it for you, or deploy it to a provider of your choice — including one in Oman where your data must stay in the country. We check that requirement with you at the start rather than after launch.
